While you don’t need travel insurance as a legal requirement to go on holiday, it is important to have. It covers you for unforeseen – things going wrong when you least expect them to. If you don’t have travel insurance, and something bad happens where you require medical assistance, you’ll be liable to pay for these expenses
If you go to a country that the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) advises against traveling to, and your reason for going isn’t essential, your insurance won’t cover claims related to that reason. However, if you travel for essential reasons, your policy will provide full coverage if no other government restrictions prohibit travel. If the FCDO advises against all travel to a specific country, we cannot offer any insurance cover for that destination.
If you’re likely to travel more than once a year, an annual multi-trip policy may be more cost-effective than taking out a separate policy for each trip. A single-trip policy may be more suitable if you only take the occasional trip, whether in the UK or overseas.
